ARRIMA: update on Quebec's new immigration system

Following Quebec's new immigration rules and regulations which came to effect on August 2nd 2018, we finally have more information on the declaration of interest system.

The Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Diversité et de l'Inclusion (MIDI) has unveiled a new portal, named ARRIMA, which is currently accepting declaration of interest applications.

The ARRIMA portal is for the exlusive use of applicants to the Quebec Skilled Workers Program (QSWP), which represented 50% of the total number of immigrants admitted to the province of Quebec in 2017.

Declaration of Interest:

  • You must be at least 18 years old in order to submit a declaration of interest

  • Quebec will invite candidates through the Arrima portal to submit an application for the QSWP based on the needs of the province

  • A declaration of interest is valid for a period of 1 year, after which you will need to submit a new declaration in order to be selected.

Although invitations have not been sent out yet, we know that the following categories will have priority:

  • Applicants with validated job offers outside the city of Montreal

  • Applicants with validated job offers

What kind of changes does Arrima bring?

The MIDI has announced that Arrima should provide the following changes to the Quebec Skilled Worker Immigration system:

1. Faster application processing times

2. Accelerate the arrival of applicants who have a Certificat de Sélection du Québec (CSQ)

Arrima will require applicants to provide the following information:

  • Personal information (name, date of birth, etc.)

  • Coordinates (address)

  • Family situation (single, married, divorced, etc.)

  • Status in Québec

  • Education

  • Work experience

  • Validated job offer (if applicable)

  • Language skills

  • Complimentary information

What about the PEQ program?

Applicants who are eligible for the Programme de l'Expérience Québécoise (PEQ) are actually not affected by Arrima at the moment. The PEQ program remains mostly unchanged and is still the fastest way for eligible applicants to obtain a Certificat de Sélection du Québec (CSQ).

We've prepared a Free PEQ Guide for applicants looking to determine their eligiblity for the program, download it for free here: http://ow.ly/RAPB50jxAwB
