3 easy steps to complete your Express Entry Application

Express Entry is Canada’s federal skilled worker selection program which has been active since January of 2015. Candidates who apply under the Express Entry program submit an application and wait to be invited to apply for permanent residency. Applicants are required to provide accurate information as well as documented proof to complete the profile.

Step 1: Express Entry Profile

The first step in the Express Entry application is to fill out your application. This will include your personal information, work experience, education and language test results. After the application is submitted, you will receive a comprehensive ranking score (CRS) which will help you determine your chances of immigration.

Step 2: Register for the Canadian Job Bank / Update your profile

The second step in the Express Entry application occurs when your application is already submitted into the Express Entry pool of applicants. At this stage, you will already have a file number and you will be able to register for the Canadian Job Bank. Your profile may receive additional points if you update it with additional information or if you receive a Canadian Job Offer.

Step 3: Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residency

The last step in the Express Entry application is waiting to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residency. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) holds regular draws and selects a specific number of candidates who are issued ITA’s.

Once the ITA is received, it is important to prepare the permanent residency application promptly as CIC only allows 60 days to complete the full application and will not accept incomplete applications. The permanent residency application needs accurate details about all of the information declared in the Express Entry application as well as the right supporting documents.
